With a website that was outdated and no longer fit for purpose, we needed to breathe some life into AJ Bell Stadium’s online presence. More and more potential visitors were using mobile to search and users were unable to see all the information on the site regarding non-match days and other events. We set about:
- Creating a website that was more fit for purpose
- Creating a site that was fully-responsive for mobile and other devices
- Raising awareness of the brand and the stadium itself
- Raising awareness of events being hosted
- Gaining press coverage
+ The Challenge
After a competitive pitch, the AJ Bell Stadium appointed us to handle their branding and PR activities, as well as the creation of a brand new website using fully-responsive web design. As we were already the creative team behind the stadium’s tenants the Salford Red Devils, this win would allow for cross-marketing opportunities and mutual benefit to both parties. However – there’s only one match day a week. AJ Bell Stadium was looking to showcase the events happening on the other 6 days of the week, as well as their fantastic conference and events facilities.
+ Our Strategy
Thanks to K2L’s extensive experience of marketing within the sporting sector, we already knew the 4-1-1. We set about creating a website that was fully-responsive and functional across all platforms, including tablets and smartphones for sports fans on-the-go.
A 'Class Act' that would help build brand awareness.
Alongside this, we carried out extensive PR activities for events within the stadium, including a charity football match between ‘The Class of 92’ and Salford City FC – this gained extensive press coverage and helped to build AJ Bell Stadium’s brand awareness.
The result was a user-friendly responsive website that can be easily navigated; it’s broken down into simple sections that will direct users straight to the information required. We also included an enquiry form on all key pages, and have incorporated a database for data capture and lead-generation reporting.
As well as showcasing the facilities through a java script banner on the homepage and individual sections broken down by type of event, the site has a What’s On page that details a complete and clear schedule of what’s happening at the stadium on any given day.
