We recently challenged one of our clients, Bury-based used-car dealership cartime, to a cheeky game of Friday night football. Being the competitive bunch they are, they quickly accepted. “Why wait?” They said. “Let’s make it Wednesday.”
Not wanting to look like a bunch of bottlers, we hit back with a big fat YES – and Wednesday it was. The scene was set, as the sun went down, but we soon realised – uh, oh – we were a few men short. So, we jumped on the phone and recruited (pun very much intended) the lads from Levitate Recruitment, who normally specialise in helping people achieve aspirations in the insolvency and accountancy sectors.
But, despite their best efforts, our footie aspirations were left still wanting, even after a couple of brave boys decided to join us. Still a man short, fortunately we knew just where to turn for a forward. We pinged a quick email to the super speedy boys at The Loop, Manchester’s fastest fibre internet providers. Sorted.
We got together and headed out the door to hit up Hotel Football, just over the road from our Salford Quays office. It’s so close, a few hardworking souls that were left here on the 8th floor had planned to watch the match from right here at K2L Towers… Alas, they were too busy beavering away, providing businesses across Manchester with tremendous amounts of top quality digital marketing.
Meanwhile, at the match, competition was fierce (and the pitch was booked for a little longer than we thought). So, a friendly game of five-a-side soon turned into a winners-stay-on, goal-fest test of endurance and stamina. Unfortunately, we lost… count as the scores roared into three-figures, so we couldn’t possibly tell you who won. All we can say it was a fine show of sheer strength, agile footwork and some seriously crafty, even FIFA-worthy, tactics.
