On 15th October we packed our MD off with lots of layers and a sleeping bag, as he joined business leaders from across the great city to take part in the CEO Sleepout.
He tackled the elements with over 50 others to sleep outside in LCCC’s Emirates Old Trafford Ground, with the aim of raising awareness and funds to fight homelessness and poverty in Greater Manchester.
Though the weather was mild and he knew that it was only one night outdoors, Scott returned to K2L the next day with a small insight into what it would be like to be homeless.
Every one of those taking part have raised at least £1,000 and organisers are hoping to smash last year’s total of £65,000 for the organisations MASH (Manchester Action on Street Health), Mustard Tree, Back on Track and Walking with the Wounded.
Homelessness in Greater Manchester rose by 41% over the last 12 months according to official statistics, with the problem being the number one priority for Mayor Andy Burnham, who has pledged to eradicate it by 2020.
The charities funded by the CEO Sleepout provide clothing, shelter, health services, courses and employment.
Well done Scott – and all involved!
